hello everyone, i hope everyone is having a blessed day like i am, thanx for stopping by, as you can see by the title, i will be discussing the outerlayer of your skin and also breaking down the individual layers that make up the epidermis.. also i forgot to mention that surrounding the cells in the epidermis are lipids referred to as intercellular cement, which helps to prevent water loss from the cells and also provides hydration…k thought u should know that….take care…

OMG! You are fabulous. I found you thru ToothfairyCarol and I’ve gotta thank her for sending her subscribers over. I believe the biggest key to better skin (or anything really) is understanding it. I’ve run across other ytubers that did videos on skin but it really wasn’t that helpful. I truly look forward to watching the rest of your videos. Thanks for taking the time to make this super informative videos & doing in away that people can understand.

@alreadycrowning all vitamin a derivatives are actually supposed to improve the texture of ur skin, increasing the epidermal cell growth, it alters the collagen synthesis and stimulates the fibroblast cells which are the cells that produce the collagen and elastin, helping to plump up the skin, it increases the epidermal thickness and elasticity wether u use it for acne or aging related..it is wonderful.

i can def do a vid on this or explaining it a bit better, u do know warm skin tone have blueish veins and cool skin have greenish veins, i think i saw one of your vids you mentioned that breifly. To tell you the truth, i think that is all there is to it, just the undertone of the skin, getting it mostly from our vein color and just what part of the world ur from, that also plays a part, irish people usually have pink undertones and thinner skin, more prone to roscesea..i will touch more on this

Right.. I do agree with melanocytes comprising most of the skin tone. That, and the way melanin is formed I could see being different depending on the person ie: how the polymers form making the melanin slightly variant and changing the color. I just find skin tone so interesting and what makes cool or warm tones. will you be doing a vid on this?
Apparently, hemoglobin as in blood vessels apparently play some of a role, mostly in lighter skinned people with less melanin= more transluscent

thanx, but my skin is not amazing, while i do not have as much breakouts as before and my skin is not as oily as before, i still have uneven pigmentation problems and post acne marks, but hey guess what’s my secret ? revlon colorstay, a light layer and milani pressed minerals on top lightly..but yes i can def do a vid on what i’m currently using, just not right now ok..but i will…thanx for coming through..

hey mama what comprises our skin tone, is definitely our melanin production, we r all born w/the same amount of melanocytes(cell) that produce melanin, but the actual amount of melanin we produce, is all genetics, the protein would be the soft keratin that comprises 95% of our skin, that is what is constantly being sloughed off, the cells w/oils make out outerskin, i’ve never heard of hemoglobin while in esthetics playing a role on skin..or at least can’t remember..

Great breakdown of the anatomy and some of the physiology of the epidermis. It’s cool to hear the terms revisited after finishing anatomy class, myself LOL
What would you say comprises one’s skin “tone”. From speaking with my professor, his closest guess was the melanin, keratin and hemoglobin all play a role in what makes our coloring. Maybe the protein makeup of all of these are also different based on genetics, etc? Would love to hear your inpu.t Great vid!
